Exploring the intersections of somatic awareness, society, & policy

Somatic Enquiries invites curiosity regarding the therapeutic, social, and practical threads that weave us while centering solidarity and mutual health aid. I provide counsel, analysis, and commentary on the social structures inflecting our ability to care for ourselves and others–Trauma Informed Public Health Consultation.

My life experience as a caregiver provides a clarity of vision enhanced by practice and education. I offer personal therapy explorations of how triggers and overwhelm may be managed with a felt sense and coherent big picture view. I offer education to those seeking to understand Somatic Experiencing’s unique application to issues of personal agency and collective welfare.

I offer individual Somatic Experiencing educational sessions. I also offer consultation, presentations, and education to larger groups on the intersections of our nervous systems, society, and history regarding “care.”

Practice makes wisdom and these are a few easy, regular somatic tools many of us have at hand. Doing any of these in a daily or hourly rhythm helps me stay present amidst constant change.

  • Being Witness in Trying Times

I attend the Patuxent Friends Meeting. I was raised in this meeting, in part, by my mother and father who chose to help build this container with others for their faith and abiding belief in peace. Friends (aka Quakers) carry a core belief in peace and peaceful ways. Nonviolent communication, diplomacy, consensus, and conscientious objection…

  • ICE out

I cannot enunciate more completely the simplicity of this sentiment. Get the masked, incompetent, and unaccountable state police off our streets, off the payrolls, into court rooms, and in community reconciliation. Recently listening to a podcast, a therapist made the point that one cannot fix systemic oppression individually. One cannot individually practice enough wellness strategies…

  • License to touch

In 2025, I returned to Maryland, where I grew up, graduated high school and college, and fled in 1996. Nearly 30 years since breathing the green, humid DMV (DC-MD-VA) air, I am again in Calvert County. Battle Creek Cypress Swamp. Chesapeake Bay. Underground Railroad. Charles Ball. Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. Flag Ponds Nature Park.…

  • Anamnesis

Remember all that was forgotten … or at least consciously reconcile what you can reconstruct about what happened with others. As I launch this new version of a digital business card, almost 10 years removed from its inception and 5 years from its suspension, I have heard myself repeating this phrase to people around me,…
